Mr. Henry Bear on Wednesday, May 10<sup>th</sup> 1892 aged 85 years, 4 months and two days.</p></line><line><p>Mr. Bear was the oldest of twelve children two of whom are now living. Mr. Benjamin Bear of Eyota township and Mrs. Elizabeth Needham.<br><br>He was the son of Samuel and Mary Bear and was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, January 8, 1808. When a boy he moved with his parents to the state of New York, where he was united in marriage to Miss Catharine Kesler, August 19<sup>th</sup> 1835. This union was blessed with seven children, four sons and three daughters. There are now living Mr. Wm. Bear of Eyota, Mrs. Wm. Hizey of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mr. John Bear who is living at home with his aged mother. In 1836 he in company with his young wife moved from New York to Ohio, near the present town of Fostoria, where he resided until the fall of 1854, when he moved with his family to Minnesota, and settled on their present beautiful farm, in Eyota township, which was at that time a bleak prairie. He was one of the early pioneers of Southern Minnesota, and one of the first to settle in Eyota township. In political matters he was a democrat. In early life he united with the Presbyterian church. Later in life he united with St. Peter&rsquo;s Lutheran church, by certificate from the Presbyterian church. He was an honest man and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.<br><br>The funeral services were held in the St. Peter&rsquo;s Lutheran church by the Rev. W. C.
