In 1755, Five brothers of the name Zirkel migrated south from Pennsylvania and settled in the Shenandoah Valley. There on property once part of a large grant from Thomas Lord Fairfax, Andrew and his brothers, in 1760, built a grist mill that sits on the banks of Holman's Creek. After well over 200 years the mill is now owned by the Zirkle descendants and interested citizens in a hard fought preservation battle.
