OBJE:_META | <metadataxml>
<line>
After reading the story of Jesse James AKA James Lafayette Courtney by Betty Dorsett Duke and Daniel Duke, it leaves one wondering if he really did survive the murder of on April 3rd, 1882.

In tracing my own Dorsett blood line through Francis Dorsett on down to Jeremiah Beckerdite Dorsett, my great grandfather who died in Thunderhawk South Dakota, I find this story of Jesse James fasinating.

I always wondered since I was a young child if Jesse really did die in Missouri or if it was a fake death. I did not know at the time that I was related to the Dorsett line until I started tracing my own grandmother Ida Delphia Dorsett-Johnson who lived in Seymour Iowa and was the daughter of Jeremiah, son of Harrison Beckerdite Dorsett.

I find this so interesting and tend to believe in the story of him staging his own death to leave his past behind and live a normal life with his wife and children.

I find it would be very hard to keep the secrets that his children and grandchildren had to keep to protect him.

I have been to the house in St. Joseph Missouri where Jesse was suppose to have been murdered at and wondered if this was just all a set up.

As Daniel Duke states in this family history, Together we discovered just how big the Jesse James/aka James L. Courtney story was and although there is still more to be told, we will leave where we left off for the next genreation to come.

DID JESSE JAMES LIVE AND DIE IN TEXAS? Betty Dorsett Duke and her family do, and so do I!

</line>
</metadataxml> |
