OBJE:_META | <metadataxml><content><line><p><span style="font-size: x-small;">Page 380: "In 1840 Mr. Cook married Millie Sovain, sister of Mary Jane Sovain. The union was a veryhappy one. While Mrs. Cook paused to week for her dead husband...though no children were born to her...seven or eight years after the death of her first husband, John Cook, Mrs. Cook (go to page 381) married Samuel Wellman, a welathy and very prominent citizen of Wayne County, W.Va... Mr. Wellman, of course, was a widower when he married the Widow Cook. The union proved to be a very peaceful and happy one, but was terminated in a brief span of time by the sudden death of Mr. Wellman. (go to page 382)... Not many years after the death of Mr. Wellman, she married, as her third husband, the Rev. Walter Shearer, anoted and able traveling minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. This marriage, like the two former, proved&nbsp;a&nbsp;happy one, but was in several years terminiated by the death of the husband (go to page 383)... Soon after the death of Rev. Walter Shearer, his widow, although having ample means to keep up a separate establishment, but not wishing to be alone, sold her possessions in Louisa and took up her residence with her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Prichard, at Catlettsburg, feeling that her chief duty to remain at Louisa was at an end (go to page 386) where we find a great niece has such a hold on her great-aunt Shearer's affections that the father provided in the city of Omaha,&nbsp; Nebraska, a house furnished in the most lusuriant style, over which he invited Mrs. Shearer to come and preside... (and thus the story ends with no co n clusion as to what happend to Rev. Walter Shearers last wife)note from Ann: she didn't go to Nebraska but stayed and was buried in Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Boyd Co., KY.</span></p></line><line><p><span style="font-size: x-small;">----------------</span></p></line></content></metadataxml> |
