<metadataxml>
<line>aka. ANDREW HOOVER
Nineth and youngest child of Gregor Jonas Huber, a well-to-do landowner and vintner. When he was 15 years old he
emigrated to Philadelphia, America on the ship the "Two Sisters". Stayed with his brothers (who had come earlier) and friends in Lancaster, Co., PA. After marriage, moved to Carrol Co., MD to 50 acres at Mirey Spring along Pipe Creek at head of Chesapeake Bay near Uniontown. Changed his name to Andrew Hoover.

Abt. 1762-63, Andrew took his family by oxcart probably on "The Great Wagon Road" to the Uwharrie River in Randolph Co, N.C. He acquired many acres and built a grist mill on the fork of the river that was an important granary of the American Revolution and also gave $500 to the cause. The grist mill remained in the family for more than 150 years. Squire Boone, Sr. and younger sons incl. Daniel Boone were probably neighbors on the Yadkin River (Uwharrie was a tributary.) </line>
</metadataxml>
