Hart&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; (b. 22 Mar 1833 - d. 29 Jun 1921) Wife of Josiah&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;Wagoner, Philip&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; (b. 17 Jan 1803 - d. 17 Aug 1853) Parents: A.&amp;amp; N.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;Witness to the Will:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;Binkley, Jacob&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; (b. 17 Nov 1784 - d. 25 Dec 1860)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;div style="text-align: center;" align="center"&gt;&lt;hr align="center" size="2"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;Concord United Methodist Church &amp;ndash; A Brief History&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;Concord, like many other early Methodist churches, began when a group of settlers decided to meet regularly for worship in private homes.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;According to tradition, &lt;strong&gt;Phillip Waggoner&lt;/strong&gt;, who had purchased his land in 1774, first held the services at his house as early as 1781.&amp;nbsp; When the well-known Methodist circuit-rider, Francis Asbury, passed through the area in 1785, he noted in his diary that he had preached in &lt;strong&gt;"Waggoner's Chapel."&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;A neighbor, Henry Stultz, opened his home for worship services, perhaps when Waggoner died.&amp;nbsp; Another Methodist circuit-rider, James Patterson, noted in his diary in 1802 that he had preached to "a tolerably large congregation" at the Stultz home.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;As the congregation grew larger, they needed to build their own church.&amp;nbsp; In 1809, "for the sum of twenty-five cents in hand," Henry Stultz &lt;strong&gt;sold two acres of land to church leaders, including young Adam Waggoner, for the purpose of building a house of worship that became Concord United Methodist Church.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;In 2013, the congregation celebrates its 232nd anniversary, making Concord the oldest Methodist church in continuous use in Forsyth County.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line><line>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</line></content></metadataxml>
