He founded the T.M.James Co., built the James building and had a large warehouse, as well as the retail store.&nbsp; At the store, he sold &quot;Queen&#39;s Ware.&quot; (That was a hard, cream colored earthenware, perfected c 1765 by Wedgwood.) The store sold beautiful china and art objects, and was later sold to Hall of Hallmark cards. </p><p>He had earlier, in 1852, operated a store in Todd Co., KY and had been a partner in a trading organization dealing with the Sac and Fox Indians.</p><p>His two sons were both graduates of Brown University and after his death, operated the company.</p><p>A history of his life can be found in the &quot;United States Biographical Dictionary,&quot; Missouri Edition, 1878. </p></line></content></metadataxml> |
