Some of these ministersinclu ding Andrew Reed, Martin Owens, H. M. Prather, and Martin Prather did notlive in the immedi ate Flat Rock area. One of the oldest of these children ofFlat Rock developed in the Peak Cr eek section of Ashe County, to which Andrew Sheets moved from Rowan County in 1795. This ma n was very likely a member of the Schutz family which had been active in the Brethren commu nities along the Uwharrie River and had later been one of the earliest settlers in the Frate rnity leaders in the Brethren congregations in Ashe Couny. These Brethren began, as was alw ays the case, by conducting worship services in the homes of themembers; eventually, they m oved into the Peak Creek school house, and finally,they built a church. Some of the signifi cant 19th century leaders of the Peak Creek Brethren, in addition to members of the Sheets &#39; family were Martin Owens and John C. Woodie.&quot; (cf Clara S. According to the Ashe Cemetery Rec ords found in the Ashe County Library, the first burial in the Andrew Sheets Cemetery was A ndrew Sheets. The first burial was in 1875. According to Mack Sheets, Andrew built his hous e above his future son Adam&#39;s house. At a later time, Harmon Sheets andSam Dancy occupie d Andrew&#39;s homeplace. Recorded in Secretary&#39;s Office, January 26, 1838. Andrew Sheet s: Grant No. 4130 - of 40 acres in Wilkes County on waters of Reddies River.
